Like most property managers, you’re always looking for creative ways to host a breakfast on the go for your tenants. They don’t always have time to sit down for a leisurely breakfast, but that doesn’t mean your team can’t provide them with a tasty breakfast treat. With creativity, you can spruce up your breakfast on-the-go routine with these three easy tips.
We thought this blog topic was right on time for the fall season. Quick breakfast options seem to be a must as the weather starts to drop.
Over the years, we’ve hosted various breakfast on-the-go options for communities. We’ve done everything from oatmeal stations to continental-style breakfasts. Does it matter about changing things up?
You may be asking yourself that question. Let us tell you. It does matter!
When events get stale and expected, it can impact the turnout for participation. That’s why we recommend changing your event ideas and menus every few months. I know there’s a saying that “if it’s not broken, there’s no need to fix it.” That’s not the case when it comes to event coordination.
We hope that these tips are helpful for you and your staff when it comes to planning your next breakfast event.
1. Get creative with your toppings.
As we mentioned, we love to do oatmeal stations and parfait stations. They are quick and affordable options for properties to handle and house. It allows the residents to mix and match their favorite flavors.
You can put just about anything on oatmeal or yogurt, so get creative! Instead of sticking with the same old fruits and nuts, try adding savory toppings like cheese or diced bacon. Or, for a sweet treat, top your oatmeal with chocolate chips or a drizzle of maple syrup. The options are endless!
The best way to execute this idea is by purchasing individually packaged items. We often have plain oatmeal already ready. Within make individual portions with already cooked oatmeal. That way, the tenant can eat the oatmeal on their way to work with the toppings of their choice.
You can buy clear plastic bowls with a cover to portion out the servings for yogurt stations. It will take some prep work from the office team. Yet it will be worth the extra effort.
2. Make a breakfast wrap.
A breakfast wrap is a quick and easy way to give all your favorite breakfast items in one convenient package. Breakfast sandwiches are a great option. You can partner with a local bakery or breakfast shop to have them make it. Or you can have a caterer do a custom breakfast sandwich bar.
It all depends on your community and the number of commuter residents. You want to keep in mind how long it will take for the breakfast sandwich to be ready.
An extra touch to your breakfast sandwich bar, you can add various juices and fruit to accompany the sandwich. We’ve noticed that breakfast tacos are becoming equally as popular. The good thing is that you have options between wraps, sandwiches, or tacos.
3. Mix it up with smoothies or protein shakes.
If your community has more health-conscious tenants, you will find that a smoothie bar can be a big hit for a quick breakfast event. You can also do smoothie bowls.
The best part about a smoothie station is the garnishes. You can do fresh fruit, shredded coconut, nuts, or whip cream. The toppings are endless.
You can do this idea even when you’re short on time. Your team or a caterer can easily make these in advance. The residents can grab them on their way out the door. Just toss all of your ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Then pour it into a to-go cup, and you’re good!
We do recommend this for smaller communities. It may be a little bit more challenging for properties that have over 50 tenants that participate in events. Yet, it is possible when you work with a caterer.
Try to have granola bars, fresh fruit, and boiled eggs as some additional protein sources to go along with a smoothie. We even recommend having lovely grab bags for the tenant to put their treats inside for breakfast.
With these three tips, you can quickly spruce up your breakfast on-the-go events without sacrificing your sanity. So get creative and mix things up! Your tenants will thank you for it.
